Want to know how to make roast potatoes? I’ve got a video for that.
I say in the video 20 minutes, but really that’s the minimum. If you want a darker roast, go for more like 30-40.
I made this video because I was sent some fancy beef from ASDA. It comes all ready in a roasting tray – you just have to remove the paper from the outside and stick it in the oven. It’s designed to be used for a mid-week roast, so you can literally come home and bung things in the oven but have a delicious dinner in a couple of hours.
As with all miracle products like this, I’m always dubious. Can they really be as easy to use as they say they are? And if they are that easy, surely they’ll turn out crappy results? Well, this beef really is as easy to use as they say it is. And you get absolutely gorgeous results.
Garry doesn’t usually like beef because he finds it tough and dry, but this was juicy and delicious. It was brown on the outside and deliciously pink in the centre, so if you’re not a fan of pink meat I’d add another 5-10 minutes onto the roasting time. All the meat juice gets trapped in the bag, so it won’t dry out.
Anyway, you can see how easy the cooking was and how good the result was on the video. I’ll upload a new video next week where I’m testing the peppercorn crusted version of the beef with a video on roast potatoes.
